Moritz von Pein was born 1978 in the beautiful South of Germany .. a town called Heidelberg. In great protection he started more and more to be interested in music of all kinds. First contact was Hip Hop and the eelectronic music, where he realised, he has a great connection to it.
While he made experiments with Drum n Bass, Reggae and Breakbeats, he once saw Richard D. James playing in the ceiling of an old castle. This was the time when he felt in love with the more minimal soundscapes also of artists like Plaid, Autechre and Boards Of Canada. But it took him quiet a long time to get in touch with the dancefloor.
As he started his architecture studies in Stuttgart he saw in 2002 a performance by DJ Koze and was paralized by the pure bass running through the boxes.
After that he began deejaying with his friend Iassen Markov. The project ..Beat Uhse.. was born. The first Stepps were self-organised illegal parties in old buildings around Stuttgart. They fast got well-known for their own special sound and their great passion for excessive celebration.
Today, they together hold residenices at Stuttgarts Cine Colibri and Rocker33, where they also invite selected artists like Treplec, Tobias Becker, Alex Under, Matt John, Lawrence, Kristian Beyer (Ame), Michael Fakesch, MyMy, Roman Fl..gel, Cassy and many more. In the meantime they had to change their name into Markov von Pein, because a big erotic products company got a bit bothered by the similarity of their name to their company.
At the end of 2004 Moritz decided to make progress in developing his really own soundscapes and started to produce. In May 2006 his first own release ..Merlin EP.. was released on Kahlwild, and got charted by artists like Koze and Luciano. In November 2006 his second record was released, also on Kahlwild. It became also a great feedback, was played by karotte in his radioshow and charted by djs like Tobias Becker, Dominik Eulberg and Miss Jools of Sleeper Thiefs.
Besides his residencies at the Cine Colibri and the Rocker33 he has also played in clubs like Climax Institutes, Le Fonque (Stuttgart), Panoramabar, Bar25, Watergate (Berlin), Härterei (Zürich), Bootshaus, Blumengold (Koeln), Rakete (Nuernberg), Erdbeermund (Karlsruhe), Mochiba, Kubik, Miniclub, Fellini (all Barcelona), Time Warp (Mannheim), Zeitwerk (Ludwigshafen), Karlstorbahnhof, Villa Nachttanz (all Heidelberg), Casino (Amberg), Suxul (Ingolstadt), Soap Club (Hannover) and many more.
During his musical development he got to know Henrik Mauler of Zeitguised at the university and got interested in combining 3D-Art with music. Moritz produced some Soundtracks with that ability for independent videos, designed own graphics and the flyers for his events. Because of the great reputation for that, he also got many jobs as an independent graphic- and webdesigner. Now he finished his architecture studies and works on a media art project.
